Thanks for visiting my little corner of the globe! I’m Jen, and Half Hearted Hippy is a collection of my ramblings and musings about motherhood (in the halfhearted hippy manner, of course), feeding & educating little ones.
I hope at Half Hearted Hippy you are encouraged that even amidst the image of crunchy, granola, perfectionism found in more natural parenting, that there’s wiggle room too. That what works for me, may not work for you. That research is fun and fantastic to use, but not all kids fit the research mold. And that in doing the best for our kids, we achieve our own level of perfectionism that is called BALANCE and real life parenting. Because in the end, no one woke up today and thought, “I want to be a terrible parent.” We’re all doing the best we can and learning every day.
I’m Jen, a native Texan, and I currently live in Cairo, Egypt with my Cuban husband and our two little half American, half Cuban, half white, half Afro-Cubano, boy/girl toddler twins, born June 2014. We’re a crazy mixed up bunch, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have a passion for infant and child nutrition, love to cook and bake, and am an early childhood teacher to my very core. Thanks for joining in on our story!
