Emily and I decided to do the Whole 30 together. More like she’s done it a million times before, and sometime in Novemberish, I told her that after the holidays I would do it with her. I knew I’d need something when we got back to Egypt after the U.S. holiday binge. I also knew I was cutting out soda, so why not cut out everything else good and lovely on the planet?
Ok, that’s a bit dramatic, but cheese? Bread? Butter? Sugar? That’s a lot of good and lovely right there.
HOWEVER, I know it TASTES good and lovely, but what is it really doing to my body? I’d like to find out.
That’s my why.
How will I feel without these things?
How do these things make my body feel?
What would life be like if I got over my cravings?
Honestly, I don’t know. Even when I’ve dieted, done Weight Watchers, run half marathons, eaten super healthy, even then I’ve never not had cravings or truly known how my body responds to those foods. And I’m curious. I’d like to see.
So while of course I hope to lose some weight, feel better, and jump start 2016’s nutrition, I really just want to know what works for me. What’s best for my body. And this seems to be a good way to find out. So February 1st, I’m excited and terrified for you. Let’s do this.
